Everything Can Be Therapeutic

There are books that invite you into a world so vast that it transcends even the author themselves.

They are a complete immersion.

You step into another reality. You forget where you are, who you are. You become one character, or several at once.

You dive in completely.

And then there are other books that do the exact opposite.

They do not invite you into a new world. They invite you to create one.

Every sentence becomes inspiration. A spark to write, to paint, to try something new, to create.

Neither is more valuable than the other.

Each has its own timing, its own place, and its own purpose.

But I think they all have one thing in common.

They are all a doorway to knowing ourselves better.

The books that immerse me in a story eventually bring me back to myself.

What did this story awaken in me?

Which character did I relate to?

What touched me most deeply?

And the others, the ones that act as creative catalysts, reveal parts of me that were waiting to take shape.

An idea.

A painting.

An experience.

A new way of looking at life.

And perhaps that is why I believe that everything can be therapeutic.

Formal therapy, of course.

But also a book.

A journey.

A new restaurant.

A conversation.

A new piece of clothing.

Any experience at all.

Because everything that enters our lives has the potential to awaken something that already existed within us.

Sometimes even a new outfit can do that.

It can make us feel more beautiful, more confident, or more free to express a part of ourselves that had been hidden.

And I think that is wonderful.

To be able to use the world as a catalyst for getting to know ourselves more deeply.

Because it is not only about looking inward.

We can also ask:

What can I experience?

Where can I go?

What can I read?

What sparks my curiosity?

Because perhaps there are parts of ourselves we have not met yet, parts that are simply waiting for an invitation to reveal themselves.

And then life stops being a journey that only moves from the inside out.

It also becomes a journey from the outside in.

A continuous movement.

Always getting to know myself a little better.

And because of that, living a little better with myself.

Everything can be therapeutic, if you choose to move through life with that lens available to you.
