Is reading auras a gift, or can it be learned?

It can be learned.
I know that isn't the answer people expect. When I say what I do, the question that almost always follows is whether I was born this way. I wasn't. I didn't even know any of this existed until a few years ago.
This has happened to you
You're sitting somewhere. Someone you've never seen before walks in. And before that person says a single word, you're already feeling things about them: whether you want to move closer or move away, whether they're alright or not, whether there's something there that doesn't sit right.
It happens to everyone, every day.
That's already communication. It's your aura and theirs exchanging information, long before any conversation takes place. It isn't your imagination and it isn't coincidence. It's information arriving through a channel nobody ever taught you to read.
So why does it need to be learned?
Because in that moment you aren't neutral.
You're feeling all of it through your own things. Through your day, your mood, what you've lived, the ideas you hold without noticing them. If you've just had an argument, if you're tired, if that person reminds you of someone you don't like, all of it enters the reading without you realising.
And that's the difference between feeling and reading.
In an aura reading, the work is exactly this: putting myself aside so that what arrives belongs to the person and not to me. Learning to be as neutral as possible.
You aren't born with that. That gets trained.
My first reading
In 2021 someone gave me my first aura reading.
She didn't know me from anywhere. She spent an hour bringing to the surface parts of me she had no way of knowing about, parts I couldn't see but recognised immediately.
It wasn't magical in the way people tend to imagine. It was something else, harder to explain: it was someone saying out loud what I'd been avoiding saying to myself.
It changed the direction of my life.
The following year I took a six-month course in aura reading. Then came the three levels of Essential Reiki, the innerdance training, the systemic constellations training. I haven't stopped since.
What you actually learn
The foundation is something we all already have. What you learn is something else.
You learn the structure of a reading. How it opens, how it's held, how it closes.
You learn how to access that particular person's information, rather than what you imagine about them.
You learn to tell what's yours from what you've picked up, because without that there's no reading at all, there's projection.
And you learn neutrality. That's the longest and most demanding part, and it's also the only one that doesn't stay in the session. It stays in you, in how you listen to people and in what you stop carrying home.
It isn't a gift
It's a skill. It's trained, it improves with practice and it takes time to settle.
Everyone has felt something about a person before that person opened their mouth. The difference lies in knowing what to do with it.
